The Family Crest
This family crest or "Coat
of Arms" is officially documented in Burke's General Armory and is probably the
"official" family crest. It features a shield with three silver fleur-de-lys
seper- ated by two silver "bendlets". Above the shield is a helmet and a silver
bundle of arrows banded with a buckled gold belt. There are other McCool family crests and
one which may be more authentic is illustrated below.
The animal featured on the shield is the
"red bull of Donegal". The translation of the Latin moto: "Cherish God
Serve the King"
